How we work

ESFCA structure

East Sussex Foster Care Association has a team of 11 Trustees who govern the association and ensure all of the activities ESFCA undertakes remain safe & legal. As well as the trustees a small team of volunteers that help ensure the events take place and help raise the profile as well as funds. The Trustees are or have been foster carers themselves and recently retired social workers have also joined the trustees to help guide the association forward.

 Funding

ESFCA is a local independant charity serving the needs of foster carers, their families and the children who are placed in their care by the local authority. Being independant means having to fund itself, this is done through a range of channels. Volunteers have joined members and raised money by bag packing at local supermarkets, donation tins, collecting buckets and sponsorship events.

Local community groups and clubs have made donations directly to the association. These donations take many different forms, not just money but toy donations, clothing, services and bags pre-packed for children entering the foster care system.

 Grants

Trustees also apply for grants to help cover the larger activities. Children in need, the National lottery and comic relief have all helped and enabled some of the looked after children to enjoy weekend breaks, trips to the pantomime and Christmas parties.
